SCIATIC PAIN PROBLEMS
I’m going to share with you the most effective way to fixing sciatic pain and the stress caused, due to tension in the body. Looking at the three levels of structures, being the joints, the soft tissue and the fascia, the picture becomes clearer.
Determining which one is causing the problem is the most important thing. Well, it’s all of them to some extent as they are all connected. The deeper you down through the layers, you release every level above naturally.
COMMON PROBLEMS
So we’re going to use as an example a very common problem that causes a lot of pain. It’s sciatica. The reason this causes so much angst is because it involves pain from the sciatic nerve. With muscular pain, you are able to obtain some relief by changing position, however nerve pain is constant and very wearing.
The sciatic nerve starts in the lower spine, travels down through the buttock and the back of the leg. Discomfort starts in the buttock and is quite often confined to this area. More severe cases, or if left untreated radiates down the leg.
SITTING CAUSES SCIATIC PAIN
Most cases are down one side only, and usually worse on sitting. This is a telling sign as to the cause. Many therapists believe that it is a problem with the spine, and those who use adjustments as treatment, will work on the spine. It may give some relief, but not lasting.
It is my conclusion based on over twenty years of clinical practice, that almost all sciatic pain is caused by muscular tension in the buttock, and by releasing the muscles and, of course, most importantly the fascia, with simple trigger point therapy and clinical stretching, this problem is easily fixed. And what’s more, it stays fixed with just a few minutes of regular stretching.
Working with the deeper layers, naturally releases the layers above, and this is how you get rapid results, without seeing a number of therapists, who more often than not are trained primarily in one modality.
