STRETCHING AND MINDSET MATTERS

Have you ever done a stretching programme and still seem to have pain? In fact, you probably haven’t even thought about it. You see, most people think that pain is a normal part of life. Hence, they usually put it down to age, or genetics. Pain isn’t normal, it’s common. So, what’s the difference? Pain is common because most people don’t do what’s necessary to be free of pain. So it’s the behaviour that’s normal.

Not all stretch programmes are the same. Arbitrary stretching is the norm, where there’s no focus applied, in fact, we are even told you can do it while you’re watching TV. Really!! Like anything, if your attention is divided, the results are diminished.

WHAT YOGA AND MARTIAL ARTS TEACH US

We know that Yoga and martial arts are all about mind and body working together. Also, the stretching aspects reach far beyond the physical level. They work on the organs, the lymph system, emotions, and always create synergy with both sides of the body and mind.

Much of today’s sedentary lifestyle choices shut the body down. This is a great contributor to many modern health problems. Yoga and martial arts open the body, and mind up.

Remedial stretching is that which you get from a musculoskeletal therapist. It is for restoring the body back to function as it’s meant to. Most physical therapists don’t understand the power of a focussed mind, applied to stretching. In martial arts, the greatest ability I took from it was how to apply focus. Like a laser.

Imagine the results possible if you were to combine all these aspects together. This is what I call “Clinical Stretching”.  So, what makes it so powerful? Your unconscious mind is always on. It stores information that is fed into it. Stretching with trance like focus, proper breathing and remedial elements takes it to a whole new level.

These are the key ingredients you must have with stretching if your goal is to live without pain.
